Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a plastic deformation and decrease of mechanical strength during a backing treatment by a method wherein a soft metallic layer is connected to a surface layer of an alloy composed of Al, Ni, Sn and a balance of Cu. CONSTITUTION:This metallic gasket is composed of an alloy containing 12- 14wt% Al, 1-5wt% Ni, 0.005-0.1wt% Sn and a balance of Cu, and of a soft metallic layer such as Al foil or the like connected substantially over an entire area of a surface layer of the alloy. As a result, the gasket has a super elasticity similar to a deformation behavior of a rubber, a high positive dependence on a temperature and anti-creep characteristic at a high temperature (200- 350 deg.C) required for performing a baking operation.
