Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a pneumatic cylinder which prolongs its life with nonlubrication by dissolution polishing the inner metallic surface of the cold forged cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder body is cold forged to thereby form itself in necessary accurate size. The surface of the cylinder is then degreased and further pickled to be cleaned. Then, the tube 1 of the cylinder is chemically or electrolytically polished at the inner surface thereof. When the inner metallic surface is dissolution polished in such a manner, the inner surface 3 of the tube 1 becomes smooth, and is formed with a passivated film having higher hardness than the cylinder body thereon.
