PURPOSE:To obtain a long life element without the flow of electric current to an orienting agent by using a high polymer compd. having a functional group substd. with (substd.) alkyl or oxygen-contg. (substd.) alkyl of C7-22 as an orienting agent perpendicular or diagonal to electrode substrates. CONSTITUTION:The polymer of the formula (A denotes a functional group, and a unit having N-contg. groups such as NH2, amino alkyl, amide, imino, pyridine, imidazole or the like, OH, COOH, aromatic cyclic groups, etc. on the side chains) or the high polymer compound which has a functional group such as -CH2-CH2-NH- on the main chain and which has (substd.) alkyl or oxygen- contg. (substd.) alkyl of C7-22 in its functional group is coated on an electrode substrate and is dried. The resultant orientation is perpendicular to the substrate. If separately SiOX is vapor-deposited on an electrode substrate and said high polymer compd. is coated thereon after this, the orientation angle inclined according to the vapor deposition angle of the SiOX to the substrate is obtd.
