Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a prepreg which is flexible in a semi-cured state and has excellent heat resistance, by impregnating a specified substrate with a resin compsn. obtd. by reacting a quinazolone-modified epoxy resin with an unsaturated monobasic acid, and then irradiating the impregnated substrate with a light beam to form a B-staged resin.
CONSTITUTION: One eq. of a quinazolone ring-contg. dicarboxylic acid of the formula (wherein R1 is a 10W20C aliph. or arom. bivalent group; R2 is a 1W20C aliph. or arom. monovalent group) is reacted with 1.2W10eq. of an epoxy resin to produce a quinozolone-modified epoxy resin. One eq. of said modified epoxy resin is reacted with 0.1W0.8eq. of an unsaturated monobasic acid such as acrylic acid to obtain a resin compsn. Then a substrate obtd. by mixing a polyamide fiber with 1W50wt% high-molecular fibrid, dispersing the mixture in water to make a nonwoven fabric and drying said fabric at 50W100°C, is impregnated with the above resin compsn. The impregnated substrate is irradiated with a light beam at an ordinary temperature for 0.1W60min to form a B-staged resin.
