Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a prepreg which is flexible in a semi-cured state and has excellent heat resistance, by impregnating a specified substrate with a resin compsn. obtd. by reacting an isocyanate-modified epoxy resin with an unsaturated monobasic acid, and then irradiating the impregnated substrate with a light beam to form a B-staged resin.
CONSTITUTION: One eq. of an isocyanate compd. such as 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate is reacted with 1.2W10eq. of an epoxy resin in the presence of a hetero ring- forming catalyst such as AlCl3. One eq. of the resulting isocyanate-modified epoxy resin is reacted with 0.1W0.8eq. of an unsaturated monobasic acid such as acrylic acid to obtain a resin compsn. Then a substrate obtd. by mixing a polyamide fiber with 1W50wt% high-molecular fibrid, dispersing the mixture in water to make a nonwoven fabric, and drying the fabric at 50W100°C, is impregnated with said resin compsn. The impregnated substrate is irradiated with a light beam at an ordinary temperature for 0.1W60min to form a B-staged resin.
