Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the Ba yield by charging powdered or granular slag contg. a specified amount of BaO and CaO into a ladle before or during pouring molten steel in the ladle and then adding a Ba-contg. substance.
CONSTITUTION: This invention relates to a method of adding a Ba-contg. substance to molten steel poured in a ladle. Before or during pouring the molten steel in the ladle, powdered or granular slag consisting of 2W16wt% BaO, 30W60, especially 40W50wt% CaO and the balance SiO2, Al2O3, MgO and CaF2 is charged into the ladle by about 10W15kg/t. The Ba-contg. substance such as a Ba alloy is then added by an ordinary method.
