Abstract

PURPOSE:To preferably reduce NOX without loss of the operability of an engine constantly by enabling the performance of an accurate EGR in response to the operating state of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm 11 of an EGR control valve 10 partitions between a pressure chamber 14 and an atmospheric air chamber 15. A pressure correcting unit 30 controls the correcting pressure which is applied to the chamber 14 of the valve 10 in response to an electric signal. The unit 30 has the first solenoid valve 21 provided in a conduit 31 which introduces the pressure of a suction manifold, the second solenoid valve 22 provided in a conduit 33 which introduces atmospheric air, and the third solenoid valve 23 provided in a conduit 34 which introduces gradually atmospheric air. A control circuit 28 compares an EGR target value with the output of an opening sensor 25, thereby controlling the correcting pressure which is applied to the valve 10, receives the detection signals from a suction manifold negative pressure sensor 24, a rotating speed sensor 27 and an opening sensor 25, and controls the valves 21-23.
