PURPOSE:To prevent the drop of voltage when power supply is started by operating a thyristor control rectifying circuit to compensate the voltage lowered by a dummy DC power source during a period in which the power is not supplied to load. CONSTITUTION:Since a rectifying diode 26 is OFF in a power regeneration period, no electric power is supplied by a thryistor control rectifying circuit 6 to a load 2. Since a voltage V3 is applied by a dummy DC power source 28 and the voltage of a line 9 is lowered through an impedance 27, thyristors S1-S6 are conducted to compensate it. When a smoothing reactor 7 is set to continuously flow a dummy current ID1, the conduction angle of the thyristors S1-S6 becomes approximately equal to that when an electric power is supplied to the load 2. Accordingly, the transient decrease of the output voltage V1 becomes extremely low.
