Abstract

PURPOSE:To attenuate currents flowing through thyristor elements when an inverter is stopped and stop operation smoothly by a method wherein a chopper is brought to a nonconductive condition for a fixed time. CONSTITUTION:Output from a DC power source 1 is used as DC input voltage for a separately excited inverter 5 through a chopper 2 and a DC reactor 4. The separately excited inverter 5 is connected in three phase bridges formed by thyristors 5a-5f, and the AC terminals are connected to an AC system 6 through a current transformer 7. Signals from a voltage regulator 9 for automatically controlling the voltage at the both sides of a capacitor 3 at value set by means of a setter 8 are applied to the chopper 2. Signals from an operation stopping controller 10 are connected to the chopper 2, and a condition of the chopper 2 can be brought to an OFF condition for a fixed time when the inverter device is stopped. A current controller 12 sends ignition pulses controlling an ignition phase to a gate circuit of the thyristors 5a-5f of the separately excited inverter 5.
