Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of a controller, by connecting impedance elements in series with controlled rectifier block groups for applying a positive-phase-sequence voltage and a negative-phase-sequence voltage to an electric motor.
CONSTITUTION: When a complete phase short circuit takes place, namely, when a positive-phase-sequence and a negative-phase-sequnce thyristor block groups 3, 4 are simultaneously closed, a short-circuit current flows throughout the period of at least one wave of power. Since current-limiting reactors 10, 11 are copuled in series with the negative-phase-sequence thyrsitor block group 4, the short-circuit current is suppressed below the overcurrent strength of thyristors. An abnormal current is detected by current transformers 12, 13. A current feedback signal is applied to a turn-on unit 7 to block thyristor gates to cut off a dynamic current. An overcurrent due to a cause except for the simultaneous closing of the positive-phase- sequence and negative-phase-sequence thyristor block groups 3, 4 does not exceed the overcurrent strength of the thyristors because a short circuit takes place through impedances as far as there is no wrong connection.
