Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a protecting film having superior durability and transparency on a reflector for solar heat collectors, etc., by forming a water soluble alkali metal silicate film on a metallic base material having a reflective surface then dealkalizing the same and forming a resin film on the dealkalized film. CONSTITUTION:A soln. consisting of oxides of alkali metals such as Li, Na, K, or the like, silicic acid and water is coated on the surface of a metallic base material having a high reflective surface by an immersion method or the like, and after drying, it is baked to set, whereby an akali metal silicate film is formed. After cooling, it is neutralized for 25sec-30min in liquid contg. 2- 20wt% HNO3 to remove alkali metallic ions, whereby a dealkalized metal silicate film is formed. Next, a resin film of acrylic resin, silicone resin, etc. is formed on the film. In this way, the reflector protected with the durable and transparent film on the surface of the reflector is obtained.
