Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent print failure, by instantly detecting if laser beam is kept modulated, through the provision of a laser beam detector outside an effective print region of a laser printer.
CONSTITUTION: Laser beam passing through a beam modulator 1 is reflected with a rotary multi-mirror 2, and the beam scans of a photoreceptor drum 3 from A to B accompanied with the revolution of the mirror 2. If the laser beam is kept modulated due to failures in a beam modulator, the laser beam passes through the point B and scans the region outside of effective print region. This is detected with a beam detector consisting of a reflecting mirror 6 and a receiver 7 provided outside the effective print region. Thus, when the state that the laser beam is kept modulated is produced, this can be detected instantly to prevent print failures.
