Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable magnification conversion of expansion and reduction to be readily performed with a relatively simple mechanism by scanning the orignal with a part of the rotating angles of a rotary mirror and exposing a photoreceptor with a part of the other rotating angles.
CONSTITUTION: Laser light from a laser oscillator 15 passes through a modulator 16, is reflected by a stationary mirror 17 and arrives at a rotary mirror 21, where while it is scanned at angles α from a1 up to a2 it is reflected by an original side mirror 20 and exposes the original 30 moving at an equal speed. The reflected laser light from the original 30 is photoelectrically converted with a photo detector 25 and is stored in a memory device 26 via control unit 29. The rotary mirror 21 rotates further and the signal having been stored in the memory device 26 is applied to the modulator 16 between the rotating angles b1 thru b2. The laser thus modulated is then reflected by the photoreceptor side mirror 19 and exposes the photoreceptor 1. The magnification conversion is accomplished by changing the rotating speed of the photoreceotor 1 to the value meeting the rate of variable power and changing the exposure scanning angles.
