Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic liquid developer enhanced in polarity controllability and dispersion stability, by adding to a colorant a copper phthalocyanine or metal-free phthalocyanine pigment substituted by a methyl bromide or methyl iodide group. CONSTITUTION:Toner particles consisting mainly of a colorant and a resin is dispersed into an insulating carrier liquid to make a liquid developer, and a copper phthalocyanine or metal-free phthalocyanine pigment substituted by a methyl bromide or iodide group is added to the colorant. Said copper or metal- free phthalocyanine to be used is obtained as a mixture of di-or mono-substituted products, and it is actually available on the market as the mixture. An amount of resin used is preferably 0.1-10pts.wt./1pt.wt. colorant. As the insulating carrier liquid, petroleum-derived aliphatic hydrocarbons and their halogenated derivatives, etc. are used.
