Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic liquid developer enhanced in polarity controllability and dispersion stability, by adding to a colorant a pigment of metal phthalocyanine or metal-free phthalocyanine substituted by a chloromethyl group. CONSTITUTION:Toner particles consisting mainly of a colorant and a resin are dispersed into an insulating carrier liquid to make an electrophotographic liquid developer, and a pigment of metal phthalocyanine or metal-free phthalocyanine substituted by a chloromethyl group is contained in said colorant. The metal or metal-free phthalocyanine pigment substituted by a chloromethyl group to be used is obtained as a mixture of mono- and di-substituted forms, and it is available on the market actually as the form of mixture. An amount of resin used is preferably 0.1-10pts.wt./1pt.wt. colorant. As the insulating carrier liquid, petroleum derived aliphatic hydrocarbons and their halogenated derivatives, etc. are used.
