Abstract
1330378 Electrophotographic toner composition KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd 13 Aug 1971 [15 Aug 1970] 38134/71 Headings C3B and C3P [Also in Division G2] A composition suitable as a dry toner in electrophotography comprises a major propor- tion of epoxy resin (I), 2À5 to 25% by wt. based on I of a polyvinyl acetal (II) (i.e. the etheri- fication product of an aldehyde with polyvinyl alcohol) which is miscible with I to form a homogeneous mixture, a charge-controlling dye (III) and a pigment (IV). I may be a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. II may be the reaction product of polyvinyl alcohol and a C 1-3 saturated aliphatic aldehyde. III may be a nigrosine or phthalocyanine dye. IV may be carbon black. The toner may have a particle size of 5-20 Á.
