Abstract

1,067,303. Electrophotographic liquid developers. A. B. DICK CO. Feb. 15, 1965 [Feb. 13, 1964], No. 6464/65. Heading G2H. A liquid developer for electrophotographic latent images comprises a liquid organic solvent system having a flash point above 100‹C., a polystyrene resin dissolved therein in an amount of 0À5 to 5% by wt., and suspended therein 0À05 to 0À6% by wt. of a dye pigment. Specified solvents are hydrocarbons, and halogenated hydrocarbons. The developer may be prepared by diluting a concentrated solution of polystyrene with the dye dispersed therein with a solution of polystyrene. The dye may also be dispersed in a resin insoluble in the liquid carrier; in the Examples nigrosine is used.
