Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid wasting a germicide and prevent the germicide from changing with time by a method wherein a sterilizer incorporating a solid chlorine- based germicide is provided on the downstream side of a reservoir for pretreated water, and the inflow amount for the sterilizer is controlled in response to the amount of clean water consumed at terminal faucets.
CONSTITUTION: In a natural flow type water-supply system utilizing the difference in height of a natural topography, the sterilizer 12 incorporating the solid chlorine based germicide is provided on the downstream side of a reservoir 11 for the pretreated water A subjected to sedimentation, filtration or the like. When the amount of water consumed at the terminal faucets is increased, the water level in the sterilizer is lowered and the position of a float 28 is correspondingly lowered. As a result, a lever 29 is operated, a control valve 30 is opened and the amount of inflow of the treated water into the sterilizer 12 is increased. On the contrary, when the consumption of clean water is stopped, the water level in the sterilizer 12 is raised, the control valve 30 is closed, and the inflow of the pretreated water into the sterilizer 12 is stopped when a predetermined water level is reached.
