Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation of the resolution in the vertical direction, by setting the pulse voltage in a horizontal effective scanning time to a value lower than the pulse voltage in a period synchronous with the horizontal blanking period and applying the former pulse voltage to the gate electrode. CONSTITUTION:Potentials of clock pulses phiH1 and phiH2 in a horizontal effective scanning period are set to values lower than those of pulses phiH1 and phiH2 in the horizontal blanking period. The horizontal read pulse during the pulse phiH1 reads the signal charge, which is obtained from a photosensor 11, into a CCD horizontal line through a gate TG'. The signal charge read into the CCD horizontal line is transferred in the horizontal direction by pulses phiH1 and phiH2 and reaches a terminal Out.
