Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a compound spinel type ferrite as a novel magnetic material, by blending Li2CO3 with SiO2 and Fe2O3 in a specific molar ratio, followed by calcining the blend by two stages in a specified temperature range.
CONSTITUTION: LiCO3 is blended with SiO2 and Fe2O3 or salts of Si and Fe forming each oxide by heating in a molar ratio 1:1:3. The blended powder is calcined at 800W1,000°C and then at 1,300W1,450°C, to give a compound signal type ferrite of Li2/3Si1/3Fe2O4. The Moessbauer spectrum of the ferrite is divided into six, its internal magnetic field is about 503KOe, saturation magnetization at room temperature is about 1,016emμ/mol, and Curie temperature is about 608°C.
