Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform denitrification of good efficiency by controlling the amt. of addition of a hydrogen donator in such a way that the pH and oxidation reduction potential of the waste water to be treated are maintained at specific values.
CONSTITUTION: Waste liquid contg. nitric acid ions or nitrous acid ions, for example, waste water after nitrification treatment of waste water contg. ammonia, nitrogen, waste soln. of plating or the like is anaerobically cultured and is denitrified by denitrifying germs in a hermetic type vessel. At this time, correct pH and oxidation reduction potential are beforehand determined. For example, the correct pH is in the neighborhood of 7.5 and the correct oxidation reduction potential is about -130mV. The amt. of addition of a hydrogen donator, namely, methanol, gluclose, acetic acid or the like is controlled in such a way that said values are maintained.
