Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform cooling and solidifying of castings in a short time and expedite casting cycles by forming molds separately to casting body molds and cooling parts molds, and directly cooling the casting of the cooling part after solidifying.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal is charged to fill and form a cooling part casting 7, a casting body 8 and a riser 9. After the carging, the casting 7 is solidified earlier by a coling part cavity 121, and upon completion of the solidification, cooling part molds 12, 13 are immediately opened by means of cylinders 122 to expose the casting 7. A shielding plate 3 is set in the position where the molds 12, 12 retreat, and a cooling tank 2 is moved upward to immerse the casting 7 up to a set position in the cooling water 24 stored beforehand in said tank, thence the cooling water 24 is supplied and discharged with supply and discharged the solidification is progressed. Since the cavity 121 is in the part furthest from the riser part 111, the directional solidification from the casting 7 toward the riser 9 takes place, and the formation of casting defects such as cavities in the process of solidification is avoided.
