Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible the removal of the mold and achieve higher working efficiency without waiting for the freezing of the molten metal at the sprue after pouring by forming the sprue in the continuous pores of three-dimensional net form in the mold in a pressure casting method.
CONSTITUTION: The foamed polyurethane resin 2 having the shape of three-dimensional net form having continuous pores is affixed to a pattern 1 for casting. A molding flask 3 is then installed around this and gypsum slurry 4 is poured into the molding flask 3. After it has set, the pattern 1 is removed and the entire part of the mold is heated to about 600°C to let the foregoing resin 2 evaporate and burn away, thereby forming the mold 6 formed with the continuous pores of three-dimensional net-form. This mold 6 is suited for a low-pressure casting method. If the molten metal 7 in a crucible is filled in the mold cavity through the sprue 2', the mold may be removed and another mold may be installed without waiting for the freezing depending upon the size of the viscous resistance of the foregoing pores 2' with respect to the molten metal. This eliminates the laborious experiment and number of steps required for conventional freezing decision and permits the improvement in working efficiency.
