Abstract
PURPOSE:To heighten the durability of electricity generation equipment, by coupling the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine through an electromagnetic clutch to a starting DC motor which serves also as an electricity generator and by controlling the electromagnetic clutch depending on the output of the electricity generator. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic clutch is composed of a driven member 54, a driving member 55, an exciting coil 57 and magnetic powder 59. An annular member 63, a core 64 and a coil 65 constitute an armature and function to store rotational energy. An outer cylinder 67, a magnetic pole 68 and an exciting coil 69 constitute a stator. The armature and the stator constitute a starting DC motor which functions also as an electricity generator. Although the electricity generator is coupled to the crankshaft 50 of an internal combustion engine through the electromagnetic clutch, this clutch is disengaged when electricity generation is not needed. According to this constitution, the durability of the electricity generation equipment is heightened.
