Abstract

725,795. Dynamo-electric machines. RAVA, E. Jan. 5, 1953 [Jan. 5, 1952], No. 269/53. Class 35. A frequency converter comprises a motor M driving an A.C. generator G, a regulator R being included in the same casing at one end of the set. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the motor is of induction type with tappings on its windings 3 for supplying the generator exciting rectifier 4. The generator rotor is of imbricated pole type and its exciting coil 8 is supplied through an axial brush 7 engaging a contact 30. The generator stator, which is shown as providing a 2-phase output, has one line connected through a thermally operated relay 10, 13, 12 which serves to short-circuit resistances 5, 6 in succession for the purpose of increasing the field strength as the load increases. If desired an air compressor may be driven from the bottom end of the shaft.
