Abstract
780,294. Control of A.C. motors. VEB LEUNA WERKE W. ULBRIGHT. Nov. 15, 1955, No. 32622/55. Class 38 (3). A synchronous motor, having a self-excited D.C. exciter 6 coupled to its shaft, is started as an induction motor by closing switch 7 to energize stator winding 2, the alternating current initially induced in the rotor field winding 1 of the motor being limited by means of choke 5 connected in parallel with resistor 4. The voltage of the exciter 6 increases only gradually during the starting period, the full value of the excitation current not being reached until the motor attains synchronous speed. For this purpose, a self-regulating resistor 8 is connected in the excitation circuit of the machine 6. The alternating current induced in the motor field winding during the starting period may be prevented from influencing the excitation of the machine 6 by providing this machine with an auxiliary exciter also driven by the synchronous motor. A resistor, corresponding to the resistor 8, as well as a choke, may be placed in the self-excitation circuit of the additional machine, Fig. 2 (not shown).
