Abstract

PURPOSE:To make uniform the printing density of the thermal printer and to improve thereby the quality of printing by setting the time of driving in accordance with the thermal hysteresis of the thermal head. CONSTITUTION:Driving selection signals RD1-RDN for the thermal head are inputted in a discharging-charging circuit consisting of resistors R1, R2, a capacitor C1 and a group of diodes, while a voltage in accordance with the thermal hysteresis of the thermal head is generated therein and memorized, and the voltage at a point (a) is raised or lowered in accordance with intervals of impression of the driving selection signals and with numbers thereof rendered simultaneously. The voltage at the point (a) is supplied as a modulating signal to the controlled voltage terminal CV of a timer TM and subjected to a threshold control, whereby the width of an output pulse OUT is modulated. Meanwhile, when even one of the signals RD1-RDN is suplied, the output of a NAND gate NG turns ''1'', the timer TM is started by a trigger pulse TG given thereto from a differential circuit TGC, the output pulse OUT according to the voltage at the point (a) to be given to CV is delivered therefrom, and this output pulse is given as a driving gate signal GS to driving gates G1-GN through the intermediary of an inverter IV2.
