Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent gaseous defect and shrinkage cavity and reduce cycle time by packing molten and into a cavity while reducing the pressure therein, supplying a cooling refrigerant into the cavity and solidifying the same forcibly.
CONSTITUTION: When a valve 10 is opened by closing valves 12, 18, the air in a cavity 4 is suched out by a vacuum device 9 through gas vents 6, by which the pressure therein is reduced and the causes for gaseous defects and misruns are eliminated. When compressed air is fed through a conduit 25 at the same time, the molten steel 26 in a heat insulating furnace 22 passes through a stalk 23 and fills the inside of the cavity 4 of a mold 1. When the molten metal corresponding to the surface part of the casting crude material solidifies, a valve 10 closes and the valve 12, 18 are opened. The air injecting through nozzles 17 passes through the ventilation vents 6 and contacts with the surface of the crude material in the cavity 4, thereby forcibly cooling this. After the air cooling, the valves 12, 18 are closed; at the same time, the compressed air in a casing 24 is discharged through the conduit 25. Dies 2 are opened, and the crude material in the cavity 4 is removed.
