Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the preservability and the leak resistance of an alkali cell by using a separator consisting of a sheet of base paper soaked or coated with a bridge type copolymer of sodium acrylate and amide acrylate. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode agent 4 of manganese dioxide is stuffed into the inner wall of a metal container 5 which serves as a positive electrode terminal, and a gel-like negative electrode agent 6 is contained inside it being divided by a separator 3. A sealing plate 8, which serves as a negative electrode terminal and is connected to an electricity collector 9, is attached to the metal container 5 through an insulating packing 7, and sealed to shape a cylindrical alkaline manganese dry cell. For this separator 3, a sheet of base paper 1 made of non woven nylon fabric or the like is used, which is soaked or coated with an aqueous solution of a bridge type copolymer powder of sodium carylate and amide acrylate to form a paste layer 2. It is proper to form this paste layer 2 by soaking or coating with a polymer of 0.1 to 10 grams per 1 square meter.
