Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of an exhaust gas purifying apparatus including an exhaust gas recirculating system, by providing an exhaust gas recirculating pipe connected to a recirculation control valve, communicating the pipe to a secondary-air supply pipe, and selecting the inner diameter of the pipes to be smaller than that of a jet of the recirculation control valve.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas recirculating pipe 10 having an inner diameter D10 is communicated to an air cleaner 15 via a secondary-air supply pipe 11 having an inner diameter D11. Here, the inner diameter D10 or D11 is selected to be smaller than that D13 of a control jet 13 of a valve 7 for controlling recirculation of exhaust gas. Since a throttle valve 5 is closed, for instance, at the time of idling operation of an engine, a port 22 is communicated to the atmospheric pressure, so that the control valve 7 is closed. Resultantly, secondary air introduced from the air cleaner 15 is carried into a manifold 3. Subsequently, when the throttle valve 5 is opened, exhaust gas and secondary air are both passed through the control valve 7 and drawn into a manifold 2. However, since the inner diameter D13 is greater than that D10 or D11 as described above, secondary air is prevented from entering into the manifold 3.
