Abstract

PURPOSE: To dehydrate the primarily dehydrated sludge which is hard to dehydrate continuously to substantially stable low moisture contents by employing upper and lower filter cloths having prescribed air permeability.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge such as primarily dehydrated cake which is no longer fluid is supplied through a dehydrated sludge supply port 8 onto a lower filter cloth 3, and is flowed into the pressure passage sandwiched by the cooperative traveling with an upper filter cloth 5. Thence, the sludge is run crooked along rollers 2, 4, 2a and is applied with squeeze pressure. While it is dispersed uniformly in the pressure passage, it is carried to the circumference of a rotating dehydrating drum 1, where it is dehydrated under high pressure by means of a belt 7 consisting of plural endless pressure rubber materials and contacting with said drum under 1kg/cm2 pressure. Then the filtrate is discharged efficiently through the clearance between the perforated surface of the drum 1 and the belt 7, and the sludge is dehydrated down to low moisture content. The dehydrated cake is quickly stripped through a dehydrated cake discharge part 9. Here, the air permeability of the upper and lower filter cloths is regulated to ≤5,000cc/ min.cm3.
