Abstract

1298070 Moving band filter R M KERR 8 July 1970 [5 May 1969] 22890/69 Heading BID A filter system comprises a continuous belt filter screen 1 moving over rollers and pulleys 2. The liquid to be filtered is fed onto the filter at 11 and passes first over a dewater section 3 in which the liquid is removed by gravity filtering, then over one or more vacuum chambers 3a to suck off the remaining liquid and finally through one or more pairs of press rollers 4 optionally combined with a further vacuum chamber 3a. The solid material may then be dried by transfer onto a further continuous belt 1a followed by passage through a hot air drying chamber 8. Water sprays 5 clean the filter screen on its return journey to the upstream end of the system. The filter screen may be a polyester cloth screen.
