Abstract

1404094 Operation of moving band press filter MASCHINENFABRIK ANDRITZ AG 4 April 1973 [3 Jan 1973] 16090/73 Heading B1D Devices 15, 16 apply layers of a suspension of ash or lime to respective upper and lower filter bands 19, 20 upstream of region 4 where the bands converge and where slurry to be filtered is applied. The layers facilitate removal of filter cake from the bands after they have passed round rolls 9, 10 and separated again. As shown, device 15 comprises a roller dipping into suspension and rotated by contact with the bands 20. An adjustable scraper (21) (Fig 2, not shown) enables layer thickness to be adjusted. Device 16 also comprises a roller. Devices 15, 16 could be replaced by spray tubes in simalar positions or upstream thereof as regards band movement.
