Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent an outflow of granular filter medium mixed into discharge water in washing, by providing vertically a rod-shaped body of necessary size to approximately the central part of a separating tank.
CONSTITUTION: An exit port 5 of granular filter medium is closed by the buoyancy of a valve 6 in washing. The discharge water, flowing downward, turns its flow reversely at the bottom of a tank 1 into uprising whirl-flow along the peripheral wall of a rod-shaped body 8 and discharged from a discharge pipe 3 to the outside through a water exit port. Therefore a part of the granular filter medium, settled and deposited on the bottom, tends to whirl up accompanying the uprising whirl-flow of water, but is thrown out on the way of rising and is moved to the outside whirling flow, because of the actions of centrifugal force in accordance with the rotating dia. of the uprising whirl-flow, and is separated to settle to the bottom. For this reason, the outflow of the medium mixed into the discharging water is prevented.
