Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption by stopping the oscillating operation at storage mode in an oscillator assembled to a semiconductor integrated circuit and to prevent the malfunction at internal integrated circuit with the output of oscillating circuit when the oscillation is stopped. CONSTITUTION:When a power supply voltage V supplied to a microcomputer is sufficiently high, an external terminal 32n of an input and output port 31 is at low level, an oscillation circuit 33 oscillates and a clock pulse is outputted to be the operation mode. When a power supply voltage V is lowered and if there is any care of malfunction, a signal at the external terminal 32n is inverted to a high level, and an H flag of a status register 30 is set with the signal output of a timing generator to be a storage mode, and a generator 34 stops the production of signal, and the oscillation stop signal of high level is outputted, the internal part of the microcomputer is at a standby state to be set to low power consumption. When an oscillation stop signal is inputted to an NAND gate 41, the output is at low level, the gate 42 is at an inhibiting state, and the oscillating operation of an oscillation circuit 33 is stopped.
