Abstract

PURPOSE: To dispose pulverized ash effectively be melting by a method wherein there are provided a tubular body to supply the ash into the furnace main body and a melt discharge pipe, the tip of which is situated above the lower end of the tubular body.
CONSTITUTION: The ash, the fixed amount of which falls at proper regular intervals from a hopper 8 into a melting chamber 4 by opening double dampers 12, starts to be molten by both heats entering from a combustion chamber 3 through the tubular body 4A into the melting chamber 4 by thermal conduction and the heat entering from the meltage 10 into the melting chamber 4 by convectional thermal transmission. The gas is produced through the thermal decomposition of the unburnt substance contained in the ash 13 by the high temperature in the melting. As the ash begins to be molten, the meltage 10 flows from the melting chamber 4 into the combustion chamber 3 and the liquid level within the meltage reservoir 7 rises and then the meltage 10 overflows from the upper end of the meltage discharge pipe 5. The combustion exhaust gas passes through the combustion chamber, after giving its heat to the melting chamber 4 and the melt reservoir 7, and discharges from an exhaust pipe 6 into the air.
