Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide regenerated slag having a glassy surface layer and controlled to a low hydrogen content by rapidly cooling slag after electro-slag melting while allowing it to flow out at the molten state to carry out granulation.

By this treatment most of the solidified slag is made glassy, and a slight increase in the water or hydrogen content is recognized even after long-term storage. Accordingly, the water content of an ingot obtd. by using this regenerated slag can be controlled to a low level.
