Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the high quality atomized iron powder with a little nonmetallic inclusion, by pouring the molten steel being sufficiently reduced at high treating temperature of the reducing period in the electric furnace, into the tundish (TD), and by making the molten steel to fall down from the TD.
CONSTITUTION: The treating temperature of the reducing period in the electric furnace 1 is settled at 1700W1750°C on purpose to sufficiently reduce the molten steel 2; the molten steel 2 is taken into the ladle 3 and is poured into the TD 4 through the cylinder 10 vertically installed in the TD 4, without being added with the strong antioxidant. The slag 9 is shut out by the cylinder 10 so as to be free from the danger of being included into the molten steel stream; hereby, the minglement of the nonmetallic inclusion to be caused by the inclusion of the slag 9 can be prevented. The molten steel 2, flowing out of the TD nozzle 5, is atomized by the water from the water injector 6 or the injection of N2 gas, etc.; hereby, the atomized iron powder 8 is manufactured.
