Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently melt the residue and to form into slag by a method wherein heat of burnt gas generated in burning treatment process and heat of buring uncombusted carbon in combustion residue is utilized to melt the combustion residue. CONSTITUTION:Solid waste 16 is charged from inlet 2 into the main combustion chamber 16 and is burnt by ignition burner 3 and combustion-air 12 guided from wind box 4 via water pipe wall opening. The combustion residue 17 is guided into the after-combustion chamber 6. The combustion in the chamber 1 is controlled so that unburnt carbon will remain in amount of 7-25%, or preferably 10-20% in the residue 17. The residue 17 gradually falls through the after-combustion chamber 6 in filled-state, meanwhile combustion-air 13 is supplied from air supplier 7 so that the unburnt carbon is burnt and the residue is melted. The melted residue becomes molten slag 18 and is sent to slag cooling tank 8.
