Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize the titled compound for a long period, which is active as a methyl-group donor in living body and is useful as a remedy for jecur adiposum, hyperlipemia, arteriosclerosis, etc., by adding sulfate radica and sodium sulfate to S-adenosyl-L-methionine.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (abbr. SAM) is added with sulfuric acid and sodium sulfate, and the aqueous medium is removed from the mixture to obtain a composition composed of SAM, sulfate radical and sodium sulfate. The composition is pref. SAM:sulfate radical:sodium sulfate =1: (0.3W3):≥0.3, and the pH of the aqueous solution containing 50mg/ml of SAM is pref. 0.7W2.5. The composition is usually obtained as white powder. The water content of the composition is pref. ≤3%. The composition is stable for a long period.
