Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive cylindrical substrate for an electrophotographic receptor capable of being simply incinerated after use by smoothly polishing the surface of a paper tube, coating it with a film of a heat shrinkable synthetic resin, and shrinking the film by heating.
CONSTITUTION: A paper tube is manufactured by rolling paper cut into tape form while sticking it with paste. After polishing the outer layer of the tube, the tube is impregnated with an acrylic resin emulsion, air dried, and buffed to finish a seamless paper tube. The surface of this tube is then coated with a cylindrical film of heat shrinkable polyester or the like, and the film is shrinked by heating to obtain a cylindrical substrate for a receptor. An electrically conductive layer, a photoconductive layer and an insulating layer are formed on the substrate in order. The resulting electrophotographic receptor has performance equal to that of a conventional metal substrate of Al or the like and withstands copying several ten thousand times. When the receptor is discarded, it can be incinerated simply.
