Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide superior wear and seizing resistance to a sliding member at low cost by spraying a mixture having a specified composition consisting of aluminum bronze powder and high carbon ferrochromium powder on the sliding surface of the member. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of aluminum bronze powder and high carbon ferrochromium powder is melted with a plasma jet or a flame and sprayed from a nozzle on the sliding surface of a sliding member made of steel, cast iron, Al alloy or other material to form a sprayed layer of a desired thickness. The amount of the latter powder mixed is 5-85% of the amount of the former powder. The sliding member thus treated shows superior wear and seizing resistance independently of the material, surface state, lubricated state, sliding surface pressure, etc, of the opposite member.
