Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide corrosion resistant brass free from dezincification phenomenon obtained by compounding Cu, Zn, P, Si in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: By incoprorating Zn 25W37%, P 0.002W0.5% and si 0.005W2.0% and the balance is Cu, the loss of P due to the oxidation is reduced in melt casting while dezicification preventing effect is stabilized to obtain corrosion resistant brass. The addition of Si has effect to widen an available component range of dezincification prevention of P as compared to the addition of P alone as well as available P containing amount is moreover regulated easily and excellent corrosion registance property is obtained without regulating a crystal particle size of an alloy. For example, the brass is consisted of 31% of Zn, 0.2% of P, 1.5% of Si and a balance of Cu. Zn is added into molten Cu, melted and the surface thereof is covered by charcoal powder. A temp. of the molten metal is regulated at 1,100°C and P and Si are added. Thereby, the residual ratio of P become 99% and dezincification preventing effect is stabilized.
