PURPOSE: To obtain a copper alloy for automobile radiator, having higher corrosion resistance, without damaging thermal conductivity, mechanical characteristics, processability, and solderability which are peculiar to brass by adding specific amounts of Al and P to a brass of a Cu-Zn (specific amount) composition.
CONSTITUTION: A brass(Cu-Zn) containing 33 to 38% Zn is added 0.01 to 1% Al and 0.01 to 0.1% P to manufacture a copper alloy by the usual method; that is, Cu is melted, the surface of the molten Cu is covered with char powder, requisite elements are added in order to the molten Cu, the molten mixed metal is cast, and the cast is repeatedly annealed and cold processed into a desired shape.
