Abstract

PURPOSE: The highly conductive copper alloy for electricity of high strength comprising containing slight amounts of Fe and P in Cu.
CONSTITUTION: The alloy, high purity copper, composed of Fe; 0.02 to 0.4wt%, P; 0.01 to 0.1wt% and the rest Cu is melted under charcoal covering in an electric furnace. With about 20% of the copper charge being left, the Fe chips meeting the intended value are charged. After the Fe has melted, the foregoing remaining amount of copper is charged. Next, the molten metal temperature is lowered down to about 1180 to 1190°C to deoxidize in the mother alloy of Cu 15%. After stirring and settling, the molten metal is cast in molds, whereby the copper alloy is made. This alloy has better workability, strength and electric conductivity than conventional alloys and has equivalent corrosion resistance, thus it is expected that this alloy becomes the main material for electrical parts.
