Abstract
PURPOSE: To give high electrical conductivity to a Cu-Fe type high tensile, highly electrically conductive copper alloy in a short time by carrying out heat treatment of the alloy in two steps one of which is at high temp. and the other at low temp.
CONSTITUTION: An ingot of a Cu-Fe alloy contg. 0.1W4.0% Fe is extruded or rolled and optionally soln. heat treated. The alloy may further contain one or more out of P, Zn, Al, Si, Mg, Sn, Zr, B and rare earth elements; 0.05W0.5%. The alloy is then heated at 500W600°C for 15W200 min to carry out first step heat treatment, followed by second step heat treatment at 400W450°C for 0.5W10 hr. The differential amt. between the amt. of Fe dissolved and the mean value of dissolved Fe in the range of 400W450°C attaining most superior conductivity is precipitated in a short time by the second step heat treatment to obtain high conductivity.
