Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a brazing alloy of excellent penetrating propery used for brazing Cu alloy, by cooling and solidifying molten hard brazing filler metal of Cu-Ag-P-Sn type at a specific cooling conditions.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy comprising at least one member selected from the group comsisting of 2W7% P, <30% Ag, <20% Sn, the balance being Cu is melted then it is cooled from a temp. 70°C higher than the eutectic point to a temp. 50°C higher than the liq. phase temp. gradually at a rate from 10°C/min. to 1.5°C/min. to crystallize as constantly as possible the reacted crystals as well as initial crystals. Thereafter, When the temp. falls to a temp. 70°C lower than the eutectic point, the alloy is quenched at a rate not lower than 100°C/min. and is solidified in order to retain the equilibrium composition and constant structure to the ordinary temp. Hereby an alloy having excellent penetrating property as brazing alloy for brazing Cu, or Cu alloy is manufactured.
