Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the adhering resistance, seizuring resistance, and wear resistance of a composite sliding material by forming a sliding layer by procedure in which a powder containing large amounts of B and Mo and the rest is an iron family metal is coated on an iron-based alloy base material and then baked, forming a sliding layer whose base material is integrally combined.
CONSTITUTION: The sliding material of an iron family metal is provided with a coating layer formed by coating an iron family metal powder containing 3W30wt% B and 3W10wt% Mo on the surface of an iron-based alloy base material in a thickness of 0.3W0.5mm and then baking the coated layer so as to integrally combine them. Thus, a sliding layer having a high performance similar to or more than the conventional ones obtained by hardening and surface treatments can be obtained. Even in case where the same metals are used as sliding materials, no adhering and seizuring phenomena occur in this sliding material.
