Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a sliding member of superior sliding characteristics, airtightness and strength by sintering the sintered alloy materials which are combined mutually by way of an infiltering agent and forming diffused layers up to right under the surface layer of the sintered materials.
CONSTITUTION: An infiltering agent 4 is superposed between the 1st sintered alloy material 2 having a sliding surface 21 and the 2nd sintered alloy material 3 forming a base metal, and these are sintered. Diffused layers 42 are formed up to right under the surface layers of the sintered alloy but the surface layers have no diffused layers 42 of the infiltering agent. A ferrous high alloy material contg., for example, Cr, Mo, V, Ti, Co, Nb, W which are so formulated as to form various high hardness particles in the base is used for the material 2 and a ferrous low alloy material not forming such high hardness particles is used for the material 3. The surface layer of the sintered alloy material forming the sliding surface is usually desirably about 0.1W1.5mm.
