Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate a hydroquinone derivative, easily, in high yield, without side reactions, by crystallizing a coenzyme Q reaction product derived from the hydroquinone derivative and a prenol using a 4W12C aliphatic hydrocarbon as a crystallization solvent.
CONSTITUTION: The hydroquinone derivative used as a raw material, is separated and recovered from the dihydro-coenzyme Q-family compound of formula II [(R is substituent group of formula III (n is integer of 0W9; A and B are H or together form a bond in the form of A-B)] obtained by reacting the hydroquinone derivative of formula I with a prenol of formula II or its reactive derivative. The separation is carried out by crystallization using a 4W12C aliphatic hydrocarbon (e.g. butane, hexane, etc.) as a crystallization solvent.
